Green Mountain Power pilots blockchain-driven solar for low and moderate income customers | Smart Energy International

Sustainability Issues: SDG #7, which aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all. Under this goal, the UN has set a 2030 target for increasing substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.
Solution: Green Mountain Power is using LO3 Energy’s Pando local energy marketplace to enable low and middle-income customers to benefit from solar power without them having to build their own systems. As solar energy is abundant during daytime, the company plans to incentivize select customers who sign-up for a special rate, for shifting energy usage to hours when solar power is abundant.
