Brazilian company bets on NFTs and blockchain to save the Amazon rainforest | Euro News
This project directly addresses SDG #15, which aims to protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, and halt biodiversity loss. In this project, the company that owns 410 square kilometers of Amazon rainforests is issuing NFTs to raise funds for forest conservation. Proceeds of the fund raised against NFTs will go towards preserving the trees, regenerating clear-cut areas, and fostering sustainable development. The project will also use remote sensing technology to capture the progress of environmental conservation, through satellite imagery, to ensure transparency in the use of funds.
